About UCK WUM
The University Clinical Centre of the Medical University of Warsaw (UCK WUM) began operating on 1 January 2019. It was formed by merging three clinical hospitals founded by the Medical University of Warsaw (WUM): the Central Clinical Hospital, the Józef Polikarp Brudziński Children's Clinical Hospital and the Infant Jesus Clinical Hospital.
The centre is registered at ul. Banacha 1a in Warsaw.
The three hospitals kept their sites and services after the merger. The Central Clinical Hospital on ul. Banacha admitted its first patients on 14 July 1975. The Children's Clinical Hospital moved to its current building on ul. Żwirki i Wigury in September 2015. The Infant Jesus Clinical Hospital on ul. Lindleya marked 125 years of operation at the turn of 2025 and 2026. Each site also has a specialist outpatient clinic.
As WUM's main clinical base, the centre combines patient care with teaching and research. Its departments cover adult and paediatric medicine and surgery, including liver and other organ transplantation, cardiac surgery for adults and children, haematology, paediatric oncology, neonatology and obstetrics.
For an internationally trained applicant, UCK WUM is a public employer of doctors, nurses, midwives and other health professionals that hires through open job adverts in Polish. The hospital publishes no international recruitment programme. A non-EU doctor, nurse or midwife can only be hired once the Polish chambers have granted a right to practise, by either the full route or the Ministry of Health's simplified route, and other regulated professions need recognition from their own Polish body. The simplified route needs a certificate from the employer, so the hospital's willingness to issue one matters.

International recruitment
- UCK WUM does not publish an international recruitment programme, relocation package or dedicated page for foreign-trained staff. Its careers section lists job adverts, competitions for healthcare contracts, internships and placements, and the documents new staff must bring, all in Polish.
- Vacancies for doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists and allied staff are posted in the hospital's Public Information Bulletin (BIP), sorted by site (Central Clinical Hospital, Children's Clinical Hospital and Infant Jesus Clinical Hospital). Recent adverts include nurses for internal medicine, cardiology, dermatology and surgery wards, specialist doctors and trainees in respiratory or internal medicine, and doctors for cardiac surgery.
- The hospital also runs non-resident specialist training places and offers contracts for medical services through open competitions (konkursy ofert), which some doctors use instead of an employment contract.
- International applicants usually reach UCK WUM by applying directly to an advert once they hold, or are close to holding, a Polish right to practise. For specialists and experienced nurses on the Ministry of Health's simplified route, the employer must issue a certificate naming the units, scope and period of work, and for doctors a supervising specialist. Ask the HR department whether the hospital will issue one before you start the Ministry application.
What you need before you can be hired
Right to practise (prawo wykonywania zawodu): doctors and dentists get it from a regional medical chamber, and nurses and midwives from a regional chamber of nurses and midwives. With a non-EU qualification you need either the full route (LEW or nostrification, the Polish language examination, the internship and the LEK for doctors) or the Ministry of Health's simplified consent.
Simplified route: open to doctors with a non-EU specialist title and at least 3 years of specialist experience in the last 5 years, and to nurses and midwives with 3 years of experience in the last 5 years. It needs a certificate from the employer, is tied to that employer, and lasts at most 5 years.
Polish: on the simplified route you sign a declaration that your Polish is sufficient, and the chamber grants the right to practise only once you show a certificate at B1 or higher from the Minister of Health's list. On the full route, doctors pass the Supreme Medical Council's Polish examination and nurses need an official Polish certificate. Poland does not accept IELTS or OET for licensing.
Supervision: doctors on the simplified route work for 1 year under a named specialist supervisor, and nurses and midwives work their first year under a supervisor named by the employer.
Work and residence: a foreigner legally staying in Poland can work as a doctor, dentist, nurse or midwife with a right to practise without a separate work permit, under a regulation of 20 November 2025. You still need a visa or residence permit, such as a temporary residence and work permit or an EU Blue Card.
Documents for hiring: the hospital asks new employees for a pre-employment medical certificate, a criminal record certificate, a personal questionnaire and previous work certificates.
How to apply
1. Choose your licensing route
Decide whether you qualify for the Ministry of Health's simplified route or need the full route. Doctors without a specialist title and nurses with less than 3 years of recent experience can only use the full route. Start legalising or apostilling your diploma and arranging sworn Polish translations early.2. Learn Polish to at least B1
Every route needs Polish. The simplified route needs a B1 certificate from the Minister of Health's list before the chamber grants the right to practise, and ward work in a Warsaw teaching hospital needs more than that in practice.3. Find a vacancy in the BIP
Check the job adverts (oferty pracy) in the UCK WUM Public Information Bulletin at bip.uckwum.pl, which list medical posts by site. Each advert gives the requirements, the documents to send and the contact for that post.4. Apply and ask about the employer certificate
Send your CV and the documents named in the advert. If you are on the simplified route, ask whether the hospital will issue the certificate the Ministry of Health needs, naming the units, scope of work and, for doctors, your supervising specialist.5. Get the Ministry decision and your right to practise
On the simplified route, apply to the Ministry of Health with the employer's certificate within 3 months of its issue, then to the regional chamber with your B1 certificate. On the full route, the regional chamber grants the right to practise once you meet its conditions.6. Arrange your visa or permit and sign the contract
Apply for the visa or residence permit that fits your situation, then bring the hiring documents the hospital lists: medical certificate, criminal record certificate, personal questionnaire and previous work certificates.

Questions
It publishes no international recruitment programme. It hires through job adverts in Polish in its Public Information Bulletin, for medical and non-medical posts, and anyone hired into a regulated role needs a Polish right to practise, whatever their nationality.

No. Polish is the working language. The simplified route requires a B1 Polish certificate before the chamber grants your right to practise, and the full route requires the Polish language examination for doctors or an official Polish certificate for nurses.
The simplified route needs a certificate from the healthcare provider that plans to employ you. Whether UCK WUM issues one for a given post is the hospital's decision, so ask the HR contact in the advert before you apply to the Ministry of Health.
Under a regulation of 20 November 2025, a foreigner legally staying in Poland who holds a right to practise as a doctor, dentist, nurse or midwife can work without a work permit. You still need a visa or residence permit that allows you to stay.
The hospital does not publish salary scales. The statutory minimum basic salary from 1 July 2026 is 12,910.16 zł a month for a specialist doctor and 8,369.35 zł for a nurse with a bachelor's degree, before allowances and on-call pay.
In the job adverts section of the hospital's Public Information Bulletin at bip.uckwum.pl, sorted by site and by medical and non-medical posts.
The hospital advertises non-resident specialist training places and posts for doctors in training. You need a Polish right to practise first, and specialist training places are allocated under the national rules for each specialty.
